History
CornerStone Baptist Church of Elko began in December of 2005 when individuals yearning for God's will came together and heeding His call, began a new ministry. The first service was held December 4, 2005 in the Theater of the Northeast Nevada Museum. From the beginning, this small group of individuals came together forming one body with the desire to serve God, each other, and the community.
We have enjoyed meeting at the Elko Convention Center, the Shilo Inn, the Fairgrounds, High Desert Inn, Milex Technologies and now we have secured a regular meeting place at The Terrace - the Elko Senior Center.
As the church family continues to grow, we are diligently seeking God's will for a permanent location to house our worship services, Sunday School, and other church activities.
The first service on December 4, 2005 brought 68 individuals together for worship, since that time we have rejoiced in fellowship with one another, planning and executing prayerful plans and are excited to see what God will do in each of our lives.
Pastor Christopher E. Cupples was asked to provide preaching and teaching for the worship services in early December and on December 18th, 2005 was formally called as Pastor of CSBC.
CornerStone Baptist Church constituted in April 2006; and in October of 2006 the Nevada Baptist Convention received our congregation as a cooperating Southern Baptist Church.
In May of 2011, Pastor Chris resigned as senior pastor of CornerStone Baptist Church. Since that time, the church has been led by a group of lay minister who have followed God’s call to continue the ministry of CornerStone Baptist in our community. We have continued to study God’s word, fellowship with one another, serve our community, and reach our world for Jesus Christ.
In August of 2011 a team of 14 individuals from CornerStone connected with Joint Christian Services and traveled on a mission trip to Mongolia to support long term missionaries working there and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world.
Currently a pastor search committee is working to find a new senior pastor to partner with our congregation and continue the ministry of CornerStone Baptist Church.
